The image with Christopher Columbus and Osama bin Laden is showing the views by the Native Americans showing they think both the people are terrorists. In P.T.I. there views are very similar to the image because Christopher Columbus was the start of putting Indians in reservations. History can be very persuasive and different when its viewed from multiple views. Native Americans have been mistreated and been taken advantage of ever since Columbus arrived so they blame it on him, because more or less it was his fault.

Personification, Lord of the Flies Chapter 6

"thunderous plume of spray leaping half-way up the cliff." (Golding, ch. 6)

This is personifying the water, describing the action of it on the cliff that its cascading off of. Golding used this language because he is foreshadowing something that is going to happen in the future.

When I think of this quote, this what I think of, water cascading off of a mountain.

When you put good people into an uncivilized environment, they become different and and act inhumane. When people are put in a place where they have unconditional power. In the Stanford Prison Experiment, the guards and prisoners were both college students, there was definitely some unfair power used by the guards because of the similar age group. This type of behavior is also expressed in The Lord of The Flies, where evil triumphs humanity. When Jack's group tortures SamnEric it proves the fact that when good people are put in and uncivilized environment, they take advantage.

Lord of the Flies Mob Mentality

Mobs can be good and bad but it depends on the crowd. Bad mobs can be harming and could hurt people and groups just because of dumb anger. Mobs can be good too, and an example of that could be flash mobs, and mobs doing something really cool for good. Mob mentality relates to Lord of The Flies in the way that when Jack kills the pig he stakes the pigs head on a spear in the ground which shows a form of savagery and a bad mob mentality. Another example is they torture Robert but insist that they were "poking" him and that it was just a game while really they were hurting him. There really is no source of positive mob mentality with the boys on the island while the only thing they do is savage like.

Can you teach people to have empathy?

"You never really understand another person until you consider things from his point of view- until you climb inside of his skin and walk around it", is one of the most iconic lines from Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird. 98% of people have the ability of stepping into ones shoes and understanding their feelings and perspectives. 26/36 people can visually read others emotions, just by their facial expressions. When people listen completely understand what others say called "radical listening", conflict resolution is reached 50% faster. Someone who doesn't equip empathy, is "emotionally tone deaf", as Daniel Goleman (psychologist) puts it Like it says in the article," Empathy is the cornerstone of healthy human relationships", I believe that empathy can be taught to people because it is essential to have empathy to maintain a friendly relationship.

Mental illness could be Positive

An example of a Mental Illness displayed in a television show, is Michael Scofield from the show Prison Break. He has a condition called Low Latent inhibition which is where one person sees the world as pieces instead of bland objects. People with a low IQ will tend to die at a young age or be mentally disabled there whole life, but people with high IQ's are mostly creative genius. This is a positive mental disease because Michael has an extremely high IQ which makes him a creative genius. He creates a whole master plan to break his brother out of a top notch level 5 prison, and is successful. This relates to the article in that just because someone has a mental condition, doesn't mean they are worthless and not knowledgeable.

Holding a Grudge is Bad

I agree with this article, because i believe that holding a grudge against someone isn't right and that you should forgive them for what the have done. Obviously it depends on the situation, but to some certain extent, you shouldn't hold a grudge. It is very stressful if you hold a grudge against someone, and u think about it way too much which may cause emotional health problems. But if someone murdered something or someone that you loved... Then it is obvious that there would be some sort of grudge held between you and the perpetrator.
